Sadie is about 1 ½- 2 years old, she needs someone that is familiar with the German Shepherd breed and can be a firm and consistent leader for her. She needs routine and someone to continue to work with her to help her know that the world is not out to get her. She needs someone who will be patient and do things slowly with her to help her stay calm. When she is scared she gets vocal. It is best not to let others approach her until she decides she is ready to meet them.
I would recommend a fenced in yard, older kids (8 and up), not sure about cats but since she is a bully I don’t think that would be good. She is ok with other dogs (I have 1) but like I said she is a bully. She likes to be the Queen of the castle!!
Sadie loves to get attention and snuggle up in your lap. Be careful to make sure it is on your terms or that is her way of thinking she is above you, if you allow it that is when she tries to be naughty. She does counter surf which I am trying to correct. I usually don’t leave things out but when I do, she finds it when I’m not looking!
Sadie loves to chase and play with her sticks when she is outside, she will chase and bring back a tennis ball but sticks are her favorite. She is a loving girl that just needs some extra work to feel comfortable and then she is great!
Sadie is housebroken and crate trained, walks good on a leash, knows the commands of sit, down, shake (both paws), stay, and drop it! She does need work on her recall.
Meet Darby, our 9 month old Dutch Shepherd mix puppy. He's a playful, sweet boy, who was shy at first, but has slowly come out of his shell. He plays well with other big dogs-- male and female, but we're not sure how he does with cats. He met a few kids during his stay at the kennel and was all licks. Darby was saved from a high-kill shelter in Chicago, so not a lot of background information is known on him, but he seems to be a very nice boy and will make a great companion.

Update from his foster mom, Jen:
Luka loves when Jon takes him on the bicycle rides. He thinks Jon's Christmas present was for him! High energy boy, Luka is. He loves his hikes too, of course, as well as his romps in the back with his jolly balls. We have five jolly balls now: large green, one large and two small blue and one large yellow. Luka still is paranoid about the world being out to get him, as... he was at the vet with the 'suspicious' woman in the rolling chair that was staring at him because he was so handsome. But, we keep on and continue to show him that the world actually does have a lot of nice people. We are trying to get more weight put on him. He is a picky eater, but we have been able to sneak in some higher cal food into his meals, and he eats everything right up. He was my car companion today. With the spring-like temps of mid-30s, I was able to take him all over on my trips today.
